Write-in votes counted

The write-in votes have all been counted in Carbon County’s races.

Carbon County Commissioner Tom J. Gerhard received 2,721 write-in votes, but was still 2,382 lower than Rocky Ahner, who finished third in the race.

In the Lehighton Area School Board race, where several candidates ran a write-in campaign, the final results did not change the results of who will be in office.

Byron D. Schnell received 889 write-in votes, while Barbara A. Bowes received 877, and Kerry L. Sittler received 803. In addition, Rusty Beltz received 15 votes; Walter Zlomsowitch, 6; and Keith Schnell, Ronald Rabenold, Loretta Smith and Norman Smith received 1 vote each.

The five winning candidates on the ballots — Wayne Wentz, Larry Stern, Rita Spinelli, Nathan Foeller and Richard Beltz — all had over 1,100 more than the top write-in candidate.
