Tamaqua Veterans Parade set for Saturday

The 2019 Tamaqua American Legion Post 173 Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on the East End of town on East Broad Street and will continue west until its conclusion at the intersection of Lehigh Street.

The 2019 grand marshal is William Frederickson. Next year will mark his 50th year as a member of the American Legion. He is a graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and served in the Air Force from 1961-65.

“I’ve been in the Tamaqua area all my life,” Frederickson said. “I’ve been born and raised in Hometown and I’m still living here. I’m going to enjoy this weekend.”

A volley is planned at the Tamaqua War Memorial before the parade. Following the parade, there will be a service at the Tamaqua Area Legion Post 173, 206 W. Broad St.
