Multiple companies respond to Bowmanstown fire

Multiple fire companies responded to a double-family home in Bowmanstown damaged by fire Tuesday morning.

Borough fire Chief Michael Spariana said the fire broke out at around 11 a.m. at the home at 607 Fireline Road.

Upon arrival, Spariana said firefighters encountered a fully involved dwelling fire.

“Someone was home,” Spariana said. “Everybody is out; no one got hurt.”

Spariana said there was substantial damage done to the front porch, while moderate damage was done to the rear.

He said the cause of the fire is unknown, but that fire marshals were on scene to investigate.

Spariana said firefighters had the fire knocked down within about 15 minutes.

“These guys did a good job,” he said. “I think the guys did a remarkable job.”

Also assisting at the scene were the Aquashicola Fire Department, Palmerton Fire Department, Parryville Fire Department, Lehighton Fire Department, East Penn Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, Walnutport Rapid Intervention Team, Mahoning Valley Rehab, Palmerton EMS, and fire police.

Spariana said instances such as this are why local fire departments are in need of more volunteers.

“We need firemen,” he said. “We need bodies.”
