Two new grocery stores opening in Monroe

Two new grocery stores are opening in Monroe County this month.

ShopRite’s new, full-service supermarket opened Friday at its new location in the Stroud Mall, 344 Stroud Mall Ave., Stroudsburg.

The new supermarket will include a centerpiece food hall, the Village Food Garden, and its own restaurant — Bin37 — along with a wine and beer shop.

In addition to a food hall featuring a variety of freshly prepared meals and a restaurant with craft beers and cocktails, the supermarket will also employee chefs, fishmongers, cheese experts, butchers, cake decorators and a dietitian, plus about 350 full- and part-time associates.

In addition to the Village Food Garden, Bin37 and Village Wine and Beer Shop, the new store will also include a bakery department, produce department, fresh seafood department, full-service meat department, deli and cheese department, floral department, and a health and wellness services center where customers can call and make an appointment with the dietitian.

In an effort to reduce its eco-footprint, the new store will have energy-efficient refrigeration and lighting, including glass doors on all dairy and freezer cases and LED lighting throughout the store and its parking lot.

ShopRite of Stroudsburg will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

ShopRite is owned and operated by Village Super Market Inc., which operates 30 stores in New Jersey, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania.

Giant in East Stroudsburg

Giant Food Stores will celebrate the grand opening of its brand-new East Stroudsburg store, located at 300 Lincoln Ave. at 8 a.m. Nov. 15. The 66,000 square foot store will operate from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week and bring more than 150 full and part-time jobs to the East Stroudsburg community.

Sabita Singh, a 23-year grocery veteran, has been appointed store manager of the newest store.

As part of the celebration festivities, the first 200 customers in line will receive a free Giant reusable shopping bag and other grand opening giveaways.

“We designed this store with East Stroudsburg families in mind,” said Singh.

“We’re focused on bringing fresh meal ideas to the table, and we have plenty of solutions in every aisle to help make family life a little easier. The team is really working hard to get the store ready for an exciting grand opening day.”

The East Stroudsburg store will feature fresh ideas exemplified by an expanded farm fresh produce department that has over 350 quality produce items. Freshness is also harvested in a large variety of locally grown items and organic selections, including in-store fresh cut vegetables and fruits.

In addition, the new store will offer Giant’s signature fresh departments including a full-service deli featuring Boar’s Head meats, an Asian hot bar, a variety of hot rotisserie chickens, a selection of grab and go meals, and seasonal fresh salads.

Whether it’s flavorful burgers, grilled juicy steaks, spicy hot chicken or tasty tangy ribs, Giant has the best selection of meats and USDA prime cuts for every occasion and every budget, including Nature’s Promise Organic meats and chicken. The seafood department has the perfect assortment of shrimp, tuna, salmon, catfish, or just-caught clams. Giant seafood is delivered fresh daily and sustainably sourced.

“We’re committed to local, and we’re proud to feature PA Preferred shelf tags that help our customers identify Pennsylvania products throughout each of our departments,” Singh said.

The store will also feature a decadent full-service bakery with skilled decorators, signature cakes, artisan breads, donuts made-fresh daily, and many dessert favorites, packaged for single-serve convenience.

For special occasions or just because, there is also an eye-catching floral department with fresh-cut flowers and arrangements right at the front of the store.

Customers will also find a full-service pharmacy in store, with pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice.
