A 73-year-old Schuylkill County woman was injured Wednesday after a masked man attempted to rob her outside her place of employment.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the victim arrived at the Little Angels Day Care Center, located at 109 Pleasant Valley Road, Pine Grove Township, about 7:12 a.m. where she is employed. When she got out of her vehicle, an unknown man approached her and demanded money from her. She told the suspect that she had no money. The victim was pushed to the ground and sustained nonlife threatening injuries to her face and arms. The suspect emptied the bag she was carrying. There were no items taken.

The suspect then ran off in an unknown direction. The victim was flown to the Penn State Medical Center, Hershey, for precautionary reasons, troopers said.

The suspect was wearing a mask and gloves, was about 5 feet, seven inches tall, with a thin build. Troopers canvassed the area with negative results.
