ESU kicker Walters receives PSAC honors

Pleasant Valley graduate Jordan Walters was recently named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his performance on Oct. 26.

This is the third time in his career the East Stroudsburg University kicker/punter has earned the honor, as he collected the award on two separate occasions during the 2017 season.

Walters had a record-breaking game against West Chester as he drilled a 56-yard field goal right before halftime. The kick set a new record for longest field goal in both ESU program history and PSAC history. Greg Knauss held the previous ESU record on a 53-yarder in 2007, while Eric Wentling of WCU was the previous PSAC record-holder with a 55-yarder in 1983.

Walters, a senior, converted both of his field goals, and also averaged 41.2 yards on eight punts during the contest, including a long of 54. Walters pinned the Golden Rams inside their own 20-yard line twice.

The former Bear is tied for the PSAC-lead with 11 made fields, as he’s hit 11-of-14 on the year for a 78.6% rate. He also ranks fourth in the conference in punting, averaging 40.5 per punt.

ESU dropped a 28-21 decision to nationally-ranked West Chester and now has a record of 5-2.
