WALNUTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL

Walnutport Borough Council recently took the following action:

• Granted conditional approval to release $4,200 for planting trees, contingent upon receiving a more detailed report, as well as a receipt for supply and delivery.

• Agreed to spend $5,950 to replace stucco on the back of borough hall.

• Agreed to spend $1,500 to have a tree taken down at the Walnutport Canal.

• Agreed to release $2,000 to the Slatington Library.

• Approved a yearly resolution for the police officer’s pension plan as it pertains to their yearly percentage.

• On a 6-0 vote, with one abstention, agreed to reimburse Michael Wentz $250 per Act 172. Councilwoman Jennifer Wentz abstained.

• On a 6-0 vote, with one abstention, agreed to reimburse Harold Greene $241 per Act 172. Greene abstained.

• Agreed to reimburse Wayne Weidner $179 per Act 172.

• Announced that the Walnutport Canal Festival will be held Oct. 20.

• Announced that trick-or-treat in the borough will be held Oct. 30, with the rain date of Oct. 31.

• Announced that leaf collection will be held from Nov. 4-21 unless needed earlier and/or later.

• Announced that the third annual tree lighting will be held Dec. 7 in the Walnutport Park.

• Announced that the Candy Cane Hunt will be held Dec. 14 in the Walnutport Park.
