Man with active warrant charged with criminal trespass

A Tamaqua man who had an active warrant for his arrest has been charged with criminal trespass.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Corey Herring of the Tamaqua Police Department:

At 6:25 p.m. Sept. 18, Herring received information about a wanted man, Robert Rex, 25, who was on North Railroad Street.

Officers from the Tamaqua Police Department went to the address. The owner of the property consented to a property search. A crawl space in the attic led the police to find Rex located in the basement of the adjoining house.

Rex said that he crawled through the crawl space, then through a broken section of drywall next door, and attempted to conceal himself in the basement.

Rex faces charges of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment, and criminal trespass.

He is currently incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Nov. 12 before District Judge David A. Plachko of Port Carbon.
