Lehighton man accused of sexually assaulting boy

State police have accused a Lehighton man of repeatedly sexually assaulting a boy who was between the ages of 10-12.

Cody Meserve, 33, is charged with the incidents, which took place between 2014-16 in East Penn Township.

Someone reported the abuse to the Carbon County District Attorney’s office and PA Childline, who passed along the report to state police at Lehighton in early August.

During an interview with police, the victim said that Meserve assaulted him on four separate occasions.

He told police that Meserve threatened to kill him if he told anyone, and on another occasion said he would hurt his mother and family if he told anyone. He said Meserve also physically abused him, causing bruises on his back and legs. He said Meserve also threw a shoe at him, which caused a black eye.

Meserve received a notice from Children and Youth Services relating the child’s allegations. He repeatedly said he never touched the child.

Meserve was arrested on Monday and arraigned on four counts each of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors. Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek set bail at $100,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 30 at 1:15 p.m.
