Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship at 10:45 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Ream, pastor.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages; preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Wednesday: Youth group, 6 p.m. at church, Prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5 a.m.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Kevin McGraw. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Financial aid workshop

A financial aid workshop will be held on Sept. 25 in the Lehighton Area High School cafeteria from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Joe Alaimo, financial aid director from Rosemont College, will be on hand to guide parents and guardians through an important first step in financial planning for college. The workshop will include “What Financial Aid is All About” and a “hands-on” activity completing the Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA).

Trinity highlights

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Joshua Krenz assists. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday church school for students ages 3 through sixth grade begins at 10:45 a.m.

Trinity’s Women of the ELCA will gather in Luther Hall at 7 tonight. Special guest Al Sellers, delegate from the NEPA synod, will recap his experience and report on results and events of the recent churchwide ELCA Assembly held last month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All people who are interested are invited to attend.

Looking ahead is the congregation’s observance of “Harvest Home” Sunday to be observed Sept. 22. It has traditionally served as a time when farmers have harvested their land and everyone appreciates what their labors have produced. Contributions of canned fruits, vegetables, cereals will be received and donated to the food pantry and distributed throughout the Lehighton community.

For those desiring to arrange a baptismal date, Pastor Moore will share information at 1 p.m. Sunday. Appointments are available for those desiring to seek membership at Trinity. Please contact the church office in advance at 610-377-4303 to register.

Blessing of the Animals is at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the church parking lot. Please have your pets leashed and crated, and be prepared to clean up after your pet. The ceremony coincides with the remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, for his love of all creatures.
