Palmerton woman charged with multiple DUI counts

A Palmerton woman was charged recently with multiple counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Dane O’Brien of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At 12:21 a.m. Jan. 29, O’Brien was on patrol in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue when he saw a red coupe traveling toward Route 248 with a bad exhaust system.

O’Brien conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue and noticed that the driver’s eyes showed signs of impairment.

The driver, identified as Christine Little, 50, said she was on her way home from the Convenient Food Mart located at 643 Delaware Ave., and denied taking any medications or drugs.

Little failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Police found a glass pipe with residue and a blue container with green vegetable matter inside a white purse on the passenger seat.

A blood test indicated the presence of methamphetamine, Delta 9-THC and metabolites.

Little faces charges on four counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Oct. 2 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
