Man killed in motorcycle crash on Route 22

A Lehigh County man is dead following a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon in South Whitehall Township.

State police at Bethlehem said the incident occurred at 4:44 p.m. when a Nissan Maxima was stopped in the left lane of traffic at Route 22, eastbound mile marker 318.6 due to congested traffic.

At that time, a 2017 KTM Motorcycle operated by Adnan Hazim, 21, of Whitehall, struck the Nissan, causing a rear-end crash.

A nurse who was in a vehicle in traffic exited her vehicle and immediately provided medical assistance to Hazim.

Cetronia Ambulance arrived on scene and transported Hazim from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead at 5:26 p.m.

The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries to the crash.

Route 22 Eastbound was closed for about two hours while the crash was investigated.

The state Department of Transportation assisted at the scene with traffic control.

Troop M Forensic Services Unit and Troop M Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit all assisted with the investigation at the scene.
