Bethany EC Church

Sunday, Aug. 25, 10:45 a.m., Lumber River Quartet during morning worship with contemporary Southern Gospel music. The community is welcome to attend this special musical presentation.

Join us for some southern gospel-style worship at Bethany EC Church, 222 North St., Lehighton.

Due to ongoing improvements at the park, parking is currently limited by the church. We will be providing a shuttle service to get anyone who needs it a ride up the hill. Park on Second Street and meet the shuttle in front of the Lehighton Municipal Building. The shuttle will run from 10:15 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. and will be available for 30 minutes following the service as well.

Wednesday: Youth group, 6 p.m., prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5 a.m.

Saturday: St. Peter’s Bare Necessities Pantry, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Main Road, Franklin Township.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Kevin McGraw. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

St. John’s

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive W. Lehighton

Worship service: Sunday, 9 a.m.

Grief support: Monday, 6:30 p.m. in the family room.

Book club: Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. in the family room.

Sanctuary choir practice: Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. in the music room.

Food pantry items: September items for the food pantry will be tuna, and you can bring them Sept. 1 and Sept. 8. Place your items in the container in the narthex.

Confirmation class: Are you in sixth, seventh or eighth grade? Confirmation is beginning on Sept. 22 right after worship in the youth room.

Rummage sale: Donations wanted for our rummage sale, which will be held during our Fall Bazaar Sept. 27 and 28. Household items, linens, small appliances, jewelry, books, games, kids’ toys, gardening, seasonal decorations, etc. are being accepted. You can place them in the nursery room along the back wall. Please, NO computers, printers, TVs or clothing items. If you have any questions, or need someone to pick up your items, please call Cheryl Kistler at 610-377-4662.

Trinity Highlights

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Joshua Krenz assists. The church is air-conditioned.

Sunday Church School resumes Sept. 8, with Rally Day game and craft activities for children ages 3 though sixth grade, at 10:45 a.m.

Coming up new is the NE PA synod end-of-summer ice cream tour. Bishop Samuel Zeiser and Vice President Kristen Edelman-Weiner invite people to visit in a fun and informal way to spark conversation about news in the synod and churchwide. Please note that ice cream/food purchases are up to people attending, and no purchases are necessary to come and participate. All are encouraged to come and go as desired. The tour begins Aug. 30 from 4-6 p.m. at the 940 Junction, Pocono Pines. Trip 2 includes a stop from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 31 at Milkhouse Creamery, West Hazleton.
