It’s time to enjoy food, celebrate agriculture and see all that Schuylkill County residents have to offer during the 36th annual Schuylkill County Fair, which runs Monday through next Friday.

The fairgrounds are located at 2270 Fair Road in Schuylkill Haven. The gate opens to the public at 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 11 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Daily entertainment

Fair week kicks off Monday with a performance by the New Individuals at 7 and 9 p.m. on the M&T Stage. The 2019 Schuylkill County Fair Queen will also be crowned at 8 p.m.

Tuesday will feature Sapphire at 7 and 9 p.m. on the M&T Stage.

There is a fee for some performances.

Ribbon cutting

A ceremonial ribbon cutting opening the newly refurbished livestock show ring on the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds will be held 8 a.m. on Monday prior to the first livestock show.

The new ring honors the memory of Richard Kreager, a longtime supporter of the 4-H and FFA programs of Schuylkill County. The project was completed by Pioneer Pole Building.

Kids activities

Throughout fair week, there will be rides for both adults and children to enjoy, along with food and game concessions. There will be ride specials and ride bands available for purchase.

The Kids’ Tent will offer a maze for the mind and body with a variety of STEM-related activities for younger fairgoers at six interactive stations.

The tent will be open daily from 4 to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Kids’ Day and Family Day.

In addition, the Kid’s Corral will officially open to promote recreational activities for young people. Activities in the corral include a giant Jenga, tic-tac-toe and checkers boards.

The Schuylkill County Fair’s ninth annual truck pull will feature a wide range of vehicles. On Monday, contestants will get their chance to become this year’s fair truck puller.

There will also be an Agriculture Museum member fun pull on Aug. 1 and a fair antique tractor pull at 10 a.m. on Aug. 3.
