A blessing is the infusion of something with holiness, spiritual redemption or divine will depending on the circumstances in a person’s life, but one Summit Hill resident created a blessing for anyone to appreciate.

A ‘blessing box’ is placed on the front porch of Jason Tully’s home. He started this to help the community because there are always some people who need help. Summit Hill does have a food bank, but the blessing box is always open and accessible to anyone.

“It’s a way for the community to help each other in a time of need by donating extra items that can be used by others,” Tully said.

Stacked high with milk crates, the big gray box is full of canned foods, boxed meals, paper products and personal hygiene items.

“You take what you need and leave what you can,” Tully said.

The blessing box has been set up since December 2018. It is located at 5 E. White St. near the intersection of Chestnut and White Streets in Summit Hill.
