K-9 unit locates wanted man

A man fled police but was later apprehended by the use of a K-9 unit.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred on July 7 at 1:30 p.m. when officers received a report of a shirtless man hiding in bushes near the 100 block of Fairview Avenue in Mount Pocono. Officers responded to the area but found no one.

A K-9 unit responded to the area to assist and the man was spotted close to a house.

The man fled upon into nearby woods upon seeing the emergency lights of the police cruiser. The K-9 unit, Creed, and his handler found the man and took him into custody.

He was identified as Erik C. Funk, 28, no current address. It was learned that Funk had an active warrant for his arrest issued to Pocono Township police. He was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, a felony, and summary offense of disorderly conduct.
