The Schuylkill County Historical Society is presenting a program on Civil War medicine by Dave Thomas of Danville. Thomas, who works in the healthcare field and whose great-great-uncle lost a leg in the Battle of Antietam, will discuss — and demonstrate — procedures used on battlefields and in hospitals.

He will bring a mannequin and artifacts from the period for this program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Society, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville.
