Jim Thorpe police charge man with rape of child 25 years ago

Jim Thorpe police have accused a man of repeatedly raping a child two decades ago.

David Paul Hunsicker Jr., 53, of Frackville, allegedly assaulted the victim on multiple occasions between 1992-1996 at a home on the 200 block of North Avenue.

At the time, the victim was between 5-9 years old and a Jim Thorpe resident.

The reported assaults occurred in a home on the 200 block of North Street.

In April, the victim came forward and met with Jim Thorpe Police and said Hunsicker had raped her. She said the assaults took place in the attic, basement, and storage area of the home.

When police asked Hunsicker about the victim’s allegations, he reportedly said “It may or may not have happened, I don’t remember because I was on heavy drugs and alcohol.”

Hunsicker claimed that when the girl was 9 years old, she had inappropriately touched him in the bedroom of the home. He said he told her to stop twice. He said he was sorry that it happened.

He also admitted to inappropriately touching the girl.

At the time of the alleged assaults, Hunsicker was between 26-31 years old.

Hunsicker faces a long list of charges including rape, statutory rape, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, and corruption of minors.

He was arraigned before magisterial district judge Eric Schrantz and sent to Carbon County Correctional Facility with bail set at 10 percent of $50,000.
