Lansford Borough Council

In preparation for summer, Lansford Borough Council discussed outdoor construction projects including sewer scoping and inserting stop signs at the intersection of Center and West Ridge Streets.

In other business:

• Council took public comments on the proposed ordinance to vacate 5,500 square feet of borough property at the top, south end of Tunnel Street. There is no public purpose for the area, and once it’s officially vacated, the area is no longer in borough’s possession.

• Residents asked if the amount of money raised by certain groups such as Lansford Alive and Friends of the Lansford Pool is public. Also questioned if attorney Michael Greek’s bills to the borough are detailed, public knowledge. Greek assured his bills including the party and duration are on public record.

• Council voted not to promote a police officer from part-time to full-time.

• Treasurer Jill Seigendall recommended the borough not to pay a $1,600 bill from Northeast Alarm. Workers from the company attempted to fix surveillance cameras, but ended up breaking them. Council agreed the bill would not be paid, and future matters would be turned over to Greek.

• The borough will begin advertising for summer help. Potential workers would cut grass throughout the borough during the summer months through September. Part-time work pays $11 per hour. Applicants are preferred to be 18 years old or older along with driver’s license.

• Motion passed on the sale of repository property parcel of 316 W. Patterson for $100,476.

• Sanitation bills can be paid online for a fee of $33.45. If billing method works effectively, it will transition over to sewer and residential bills as well.
