Police investigate break-in at Lehighton business

The investigation into a break-in at a Lehighton business early Friday morning remains underway.

Borough police Detective Matt Arner said the incident occurred at 5:07 a.m. at Blocker Enterprises.

Arner said it came in as an alarm call, and that a borough officer was on scene at 5:10 a.m.

“It was discovered that the door had been pulled off and there was damage inside the business that was consistent with a burglary,” Arner said.

Arner said that no items were stolen, but both doors were destroyed.

“The biggest deterrent was their alarm system; they do have extensive video cameras,” he said.

Arner said the incident is connected to the Nesquehoning thefts.

Nesquehoning Police are investigating the theft of a truck, a stolen ATV and a series of cars that were entered in the Hauto Valley Estates area.

Those incidents occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to officer Tim Wuttke.

Police said they saw a video of the truck, stolen from Fourth Avenue, following a white box truck, which was also determined to be stolen.

The identity of the suspects cannot be determined in the video. The vehicles were recovered in separate locations in Allentown on Friday.

The ATV, an orange and white Honda 450R, was taken from a shed. The ATV has an LED bar light on the handlebar.

About 20 cars were gone through, with loose change, cash and pills taken. Incidents occurred from Second to Seventh avenues.

Wuttke cautioned residents to keep their car doors locked. All the cars that were entered were unlocked.

Arner said Lehighton police are working with several agencies regarding the break-in at Blocker Enterprises.

“We believe it’s a professional organized theft/burglary ring,” he said. “We’re still developing (suspects) through working with the other agencies inside and outside the county.”

Arner added, “We found it very beneficial that the alarm worked as intended.

They did not take anything from the store because they only had a short period of time,” he said. “We found not just the alarm, but also the cameras, to be very beneficial to our investigation.”

This isn’t the first time the business has been broken into.

In December, Lehighton police responded to an alarm call at Blocker Enterprises concerning the theft of five dirt bike-style motorcycles.

Police said someone entered the building and removed five Kawasaki KLX110 motorcycles, each of which are green over white dirt bike-style.

According to the listings on the Blocker website, the vehicles retail for $2,299 each.

Police were assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police Records and Identification Unit in processing the scene.
