Local students honored with Pennsylvania Builders Association awards

The Pennsylvania Builders Association’s Endorsed Trade Program recently awarded the Outstanding Student Award to Monroe Career and Technical Institute student Noah McCloughlin.

McCloughlin, a senior, is in the electrical program. He was nominated for the honor by his instructor Mike Witner.

The Outstanding Student Award is a scholarship presented to students across Pennsylvania in recognition of their embodiment in the trade. Students who carry a minimum GPA, are members of a student chapter of the National Association of Home Builders, and are from schools enrolled in the Endorsed Trade Program, are eligible. The award is sponsored by the PBA and local builders associations including the Pocono Builders Association.

McCloughlin, son of Andrew and Vicki McCloughlin of Kunkletown, said, “It is a great honor to be nominated for this award.”

“Noah is self-motivated and always looking for extra task to accomplish,” Witner said. “He is also more than happy to take the younger students and help them with their projects or taking them with him to do projects around the school.”

McCloughlin is also active in Boy Scouts of America, and he volunteers every summer for the Garden of Giving, a charity organization that grows food for local food banks. After graduation he plans to work for a year and then attend college. Penn Tech is his choice.

The Endorsed Trade Program was developed by the PBA, in collaboration with educators, local builders associations and others to provide technical school graduates with more credibility in the job market — as well as provide builders with a highly skilled workforce.
