Six different candidates successfully moved past the Pleasant Valley School Director primaries. Many of them were cross-filed candidates this year, receiving nominations on both ballots.

Todd Kresge was one of the candidates who received an election from both the Democratic and Republican side. He led the Republican side with 821 votes, and came in second on the Democratic side with 687 votes. He lives in Effort, and is retired from the Pleasant Valley School District.

Teresa Greggo’s success was similar to Todd Kresge’s. She came in first on the Democratic side with 722 votes, and came in second for the Republican side with 798. She has dedicated 34 years to the Pleasant Valley School District. Her experience includes being an elementary teacher, instructional support team leader, peer coaching leader, elementary social studies department chair, new teacher mentor, and a member of the community Comprehensive Strategic Planning Committee.

Incumbent Susan Kresge was third on the Republican side with 711 votes, and finished fifth on the Democratic side with 503. Her experiences range in both the public and private sector. She has served the Pleasant Valley School Board for 21 years, and co-owns the Mount Effort Service Station.

Deb Mayer was third on the Democratic primary, receiving 615 votes. She is originally from Staten Island, New York. She worked as an EMT and CNA before she moved to Pennsylvania. When she moved, she started working at the Pleasant Valley School District in 2008 before she resigned in 2015.

The fifth-place vote for the Republicans was Norman Burger. He received 679 votes, just missing a tie for fourth place by four votes. He is a veteran that served in the aerospace industry. He has also been co-owner of a construction company for over 30 years.

Delbert Zacharias came in fourth place for both the Democrats and Republicans. He received 592 votes for the Democrat side, and 683 votes for the Republicans. He was a deputy for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for 20 years. He has also served the Pleasant Valley School Board for the last four years.
