Salon Indigo opens in Lehighton

A full service salon that caters to all ages has set up shop in Lehighton.

Located at 191 S. First St., Salon Indigo offers something for everyone.

Some of the services include haircuts for men, women and children; hairstyling; color; highlights; advanced balayage techniques; bridal services; waxing; makeup applications; lash extensions; facials; advanced skin care procedures and an array of massage therapy sessions.

The business has seven employees consisting of skilled and dedicated hair stylists, licensed barbers, aestheticians, massage therapists and makeup artists, according to owner Christy Alexander.

“We are committed to customer satisfaction,” Alexander said.

“It’s our goal to provide you with the best in service and personal care in a unique environment that you’re completely comfortable in.”

If that isn’t enough, Alexander said the contemporary, yet cozy atmosphere is second to none.

“We designed a workspace that will make everybody feel refreshed and renewed,” Alexander said. “We take pride in what we do.”

Alexander said the business recently held its grand opening amid much fanfare.

“We had a really good turnout,” she said. “It resulted in a lot of bookings, a lot of feedback, and caused quite a stir on social media.”

A graduate of Lehighton Area High School, Alexander attended beauty school at the Vision Academy — A Paul Mitchell Partner School, in Bethlehem, where she graduated in 2009.

She began her career as a cosmetologist by working for Regis Hair Salon in the Lehigh Valley Mall.

“Shortly after having my second child, I operated a home salon in order to be able to stay home with my children,” she said. “Now that my boys are school age, I decided to open up a full service salon & day spa.”

Alexander explained why she decided to locate her business in the borough.

“I chose to open my salon on First Street because of the convenient location and attractive storefront,” she said. “My goal is to provide our customers with more of an upscale experience at an affordable price.”

Alexander said her goal is to grow with the industry, adding that she would like to expand in the future to include tanning and nails.

“What we strive for most is service excellence,” she said. “We want everybody to leave here happy.”

Salon Indigo is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 10-8 Thursday and Friday, and 9-5 Saturday. It’s closed on Sunday, and open for appointments only on Monday.
