Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market set to open Saturday

Fresh produce at an affordable price from local farmers and vendors.

That’s exactly what patrons have come to expect from the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market, which is set to open for its third year on Saturday.

Hosted by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative, the farmers market will be open that day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., said Bambi Elsasser, treasurer of the LDI.

Along with the produce, Elsasser said the event will feature a Handmade Only Craft Show, as well as special music from Damian Walck during the morning hours and Ed Reimer in the afternoon.

“The Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market is a producer goods only market, which means everything sold there is either home grown, homemade or handmade,” Elsasser said. “Live music will be accompanying all of our farmers and vendors each week.”

Elsasser noted that special events and activities will be held throughout the season, including Christmas in July on July 27.

“Our normal farmers and vendors will be there, as well as more crafters, small businesses, specialty foods and music,” she said.

Elsasser said the farmers market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from now through Oct. 12, with the exceptions of opening day and Christmas in July, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

She encouraged people to visit the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market Facebook page regularly for updates. The Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market will run Saturdays from May 18 through Oct. 12.
