Warrant on Palmerton woman results in drug charges

A Palmerton woman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Timothy Kromer of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At 6:24 p.m. April 7, Kromer received a call from the Carbon County Communications Center advising that Lehigh Valley Bail Bonds would be in the area of West Princeton Avenue attempting to serve a warrant to Melissa Cesanek, 35.

Kromer and Sgt. Christopher Ritter were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue for a report that the LV Bail Bonds had Cesanek in custody and discovered narcotics on her.

Upon arrival, Kromer was approached the caller, a man, who said they had flagged down the vehicle in which Cesanek was a passenger.

The caller said that upon searching Cesanek after taking her into custody, he discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia on her.

Kromer found Cesanek had numerous baggies, which tested positive for methamphetamine and heroin residue; a glass smoking device; a black scale, a hypodermic needle and a small black plastic case.

Four baggies containing suspected methamphetamine weighed a total of 1.8 grams.

Cesanek said that the needle contained water, used for mixing with her heroin.

Cesanek was taken from the scene by LV Bail Bonds to be jailed on the active warrants.

Cesanek faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 29 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
