Wendy Strock of Weatherly is one of three Lehigh Carbon Community College students in health care who received $1,500 scholarships from Dr. James and Penny Pantano for the spring semester. Pantano scholarships are awarded to students from Lehigh, Carbon and Schuylkill counties who show academic promise and demonstrate community involvement.

Strock is a student in the practical nursing program. She juggles school work with a full-time position at J&J Construction. Active in the Lehighton community, Strock has volunteered with her local fire company and as co-leader of a Girl Scout troop and participated in fundraisers to support the Ronald McDonald House and the area hospital.
