Marian picked up baseball and softball victories on Wednesday

BASEBALL

Shenandoah Valley-Marian

Marian scored early and often en route to a 14-5 Schuylkill League victory over Shenandoah Valley.

Alex Kubishin went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Colts (10-4, 7-2). Mike Minchhoff (three RBIs, two runs), Quest Wilson (two hits, run) and Aaron Mason (triple, RBI, two runs) also contributed for Marian.

Nick Mikita went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a RBI for Shenandoah.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill

North Schuylkill used strong offense and timely pitching to take down Tamaqua, 5-1, in a Schuylkill League contest.

Mike Little led the Spartans’ offense with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, with a pair of RBIs.

For the Blue Raiders, Brayden Knoblauch was 2-for-3 and scored the team’s only run, while Gavin Richards had an RBI.

Lehighton-Jim Thorpe

Facing an early deficit, Jim Thorpe produced a five-run third frame to win a Schuylkill League thriller, 5-4, over Lehighton.

Noah Snisky was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and Jared Joyce was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Olympians, who trailed 4-0 heading to the bottom of the third inning. Also contirbuting were Zach Searfoss, who had an RBI double and James Lordi, who was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs.

For the Tribe, Mike Bozilesky was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

Pleasant Valley-Pocono Mt West

Pleasant Valley plated the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Pocono Mountain West, 2-1, in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference gane.

Gabe Masker had a double, Ryan Purgar added an RBI single, and Matt Burnett was 1-for-3 with an RBI triple for the Bears.

Matt Galka had an RBI single for the Panthers in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game.

Tri Valley battled back from an early deficit to post an important 6-4 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

Daulton Leedy led the Bulldogs (13-4), finishing 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, while Jonas McGrath was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

For the Panthers (10-6), Aaron Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and a run, while Wyatt Zimmerman (RBI) and Johnny Byers (two runs scored) both finished 1-for-3.

Lehighton-Jim Thorpe

Heidi Greene’s two three-run home runs sparked Lehighton to a 20-1 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Greene also contributed two runs scored and six RBIs for the Indians (6-10), while teammate Cierra Kunkle recorded a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, which included three runs scored and two RBIs. Alexis Scott and Sam Gruber added three singles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Gruber struck out four and allowed four hits in five innings of work.

Jada Mahmde was 2-for-2 for the Olympians (2-15), including a home run.

Teammates Jada Schellhammer (two singles, run scored) and Alexsya Thomas (single, triple, run scored) also contributed in the victory.
