The Marian baseball and Pleasant Valley softball teams picked up victories on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Marian-Williams Valley

A five-run seventh inning lifted Marian to a 10-5 Schuylkill League win over Williams Valley.

Aaron Mason sparked the offense with two singles, a double, a run scored and two RBIs, while Brandon Cann finished with two singles and two runs for the Colts (8-3; 5-1).

Hunter Fristick also had a big game with two singles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Jim Thorpe-Pine Grove

Pine Grove took the early lead and held off Jim Thorpe for a 5-3 Schuylkill League win.

Isaac Kocher and Karson Felty both had a hit and scored a run for the winners.

For Jim Thorpe (6-7; 3-4), Evan Dart finished with a double and scored twice, while Jared Joyce had a hit, a run scored, and an RBI.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Pottsville stormed out to an early lead on its way to a 5-1 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.

Nate Robison led the Tide, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Aiden Stanton was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

For the Blue Raiders (3-11; 1-6), Nate Boyle was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain

Lehighton couldn’t hold onto the early lead, and dropped a 4-3 Schuylkill League decision to Blue Mountain.

Mason Barndt, Logan Pagotto, Zach Crum, Mike Bosilesky, Randy Bongiorno and Grant Schaeffer accounted for the six hits by the Indians (2-9; 0-6).

Ryan Jarboe led the Eagles with a single and a double.

Liberty-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley pulled out a 6-5 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Liberty.

Cameron Caffrey led the Bears (6-8) with two singles, a double, three runs scored and an RBI, while Meara Hanyon finished with two singles, a double, a run scored and an RBI. Tyler Woltal (two singles, a run scored, RBI) and Morgan Frantz (two singles, RBI) also contributed to the win.

Kate Rittenbaugh paced the Cardinals with two singles, a double, two runs scored and three RBIs, while Olivia Lehman added two singles, a double, a run scored and three RBIs.

Bryn Russian pitched Blue Mountain to a 3-0 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.

Russian allowed just four hits, two by Heidi Greene, and struck out six.

Alex Shane had two hits and a tun scored for the Eagles, while Alyssa Yost knocked in a pair of runs.

The loss dropped the Indians to 4-7 overall and 1-6 in the league.
