The Schuylkill County Transportation System will participate in National Get On Board Day on Thursday.

All passengers will have the opportunity to ride any fixed-route vehicle for free that day on any of its 10 fixed routes.

The 2019 National Get On Board Day encourages people to support public transportation to showcase the benefits it brings to communities.

The American Public Transportation Association also recognizes that 6,800 organizations provide public transportation in the U.S., and that millennials consider public transportation as the best option for digital socializing and connecting with communities.

According to the American Public Transportation Association, at least 218 agencies and organizations participating nationwide.

The Schuylkill Transportation System is projected to provide more than 180,000 rides on its fixed-route vehicles this fiscal year.
