The Jim Thorpe boys tennis and Pleasant Valley boys and girls lacrosse teams also recorded victories.

BASEBALL

Jim Thorpe-Panther Valley

Jim Thorpe scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to earn an 8-7 Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.

The Olympians overcame a 6-2 deficit with a four-run sixth inning to force extra innings against the host Panthers, who opened the game with a five-run first inning.

James Lordi (two singles, RBI), Colin Binder (two singles, two runs scored), Jared Marykwas (two singles, RBI) and Ian Hubbard (single, double, a run scored, RBI) all posted multiple hits for the Olympians (6-5).

Josh Robin led the Panthers (7-4) with two singles, a double and two RBIs, while Wyatt Zimmerman followed with a single, double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

PV’s Jacob Taras added a single and a double.

Tamaqua-Nativity

Tamaqua erupted for an eight-run seventh inning to run away with a 13-5 victory over Nativity.

Nate Boyle sparked the Blue Raiders’ (3-9) offense with three doubles, a run scored and seven RBIs. Brian Milot (two RBIs, two runs scored) and Cody Hamm (RBI) both had two hits for Tamaqua.

Gavin Richards pitched five innings of no-hit ball in relief of Boyle to earn the win.

Bethlehem Catholic exploded in the middle innings to secure a 12-6 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Hunter Cantwell had a double among two hits and drove in four runs for the Golden Hawks (5-5).

Dan McEvoy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Bears (7-3). Matt Burnett added a homer and two RBIs, while Dallas Greenzweig also drove in two runs.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Olivia Lehman starred at the plate and in the circle to power Pine Grove to a 12-0 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.

Lehman allowed just one hit and struck out 12. She also blasted a home run and a triple while driving in three runs for the Cardinals (10-0).

Ally Frederick had the Raiders’ (6-5) only hit.

A seven-run fourth inning helped Nativity top Weatherly 14-3 in a Schuylkill League contest.

Pleasant Valley rolled to a 22-10 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Allentown Central Catholic.

Jules Lopez continued her torrid pace this season with 10 goals and two assists, while Brielle McInaw scored five times. Alexandra Bush had five assists for the Bears (9-2) and scored three times.

BOYS LACROSSE

Pleasant Vy,-Northampton

Pleasant Valley pulled out an 8-7 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Northampton.

With the win, the Bears improve to 3-9, snapping a four-match losing streak.
