Egg hunt

The Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company and Lions Club will hold a children’s Easter egg hunt on April 20 for the borough children, fire company members children and grandchildren. The event will be held at 4 p.m. at the Bowmanstown baseball field.

Street sweeper

The street sweeper is still out of commission and is not expected to be fully functional until May 1. You may see the machine out before then on test runs, however there will be no ticketing for the rest of April.

Easter service

The Blue Mountain Community Church will present a Saturday Evening Easter Service, April 20 at Penn’s Peak 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe. This is a free community event. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with general seating. The program “Your Story, His Heart” will begin at 6 p.m. All are welcome.

Mamma Mia

The Palmerton Area High School Drama Club will present their musical production of “Mamma Mia” on April 25, 26, and 27 at the Palmerton Area High School on Fireline Road. Doors open at 6:30 each night, and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.

The Parents Association will be selling candygrams, flowers, T-shirts and show posters in the lobby before the show. A 15-minute intermission will take place with refreshments available at the school store.

Recycling drive

In Celebration of Earth Day, the Palmerton Area Library is having a STEAM Recycling Drive from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 22. Bins will be available inside the library for donated items such as scrap paper and cardboard, craft supplies, scrap fabric and sewing notions, string, wire, twist ties, rubber bands, office and mailing supplies, magnets, washers, marbles, old CDs, plastic containers, wooden blocks and Legos.

Free community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. April 25 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are invited to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

American Legion

The Palmerton American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. April 23 at the VFW Post, Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. The group is always looking to welcome new members.

Jerusalem UCC

The Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold Easter Dawn Service on April 21 in the church grove at 7 a.m. The fellowship committee will provide hot beverages (coffee, tea, and hot chocolate) in the Ryman Hall beginning at 6:30 a.m. before the service. Family Service will be at 9 a.m., and a traditional service at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday school.

A sausage and all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast sponsored by the youth group will be held on Easter morning from 7:30 to 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Breakfast if free for everyone. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the JUCC Youth Group.
