Palmerton library’s bookmark contest winners announced

The Palmerton Area Library is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 Book Mark Contest in celebration of National Library Week. Jordyn Ritton and Audrianna Tejeda, both kindergarten students at Parkside Education Center, and Lila Faust-Severino, a second-grade student at S.S. Palmer Elementary School in Palmerton, submitted winning designs.

Winners from S.S. Palmer Elementary also included Garrett Kunkle, a third-grade student; Cassidy Merkel, a fifth-grade student; and Joshua Merkel, a sixth-grade student.

St. John Neumann Regional School in Slatington had two winners, Sophia Cornmesser, a first-grade student, and Olivia Kalman, a third-grade student.

Immaculate Conception School fifth-grader Joseph Martucci was also a contest winner.

The Palmerton Area Library holds the Book Mark Contest each year in April asking elementary students to create an original design illustrating why they love the library. Artwork ranges from aliens and unicorns to bookshelves and superheroes. Winning bookmarks are available at the library for a year until a new contest is held. This year’s winners each received a $5 gift certificate for Claude’s Creamery in Palmerton. Congratulations to all the winners!
