Saylorsburg man charged with indecent assault of child over a decade ago

A Saylorsburg man faces charges for the alleged indecent assault of a child that occurred over a decade ago.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Tristan Bennett of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop N, Fern Ridge:

The victim is a girl who was 6 at the time. She initially reported this incident to family members who contacted Monroe County Children and Youth.

The victim was interviewed by Monroe County Children and youth and said that Marco Colon, 46, sexually assaulted her.

The victim said that the assaults occurred between September and November of 2006 and said he assaulted her on six occasions.

Bennett attempted to interview Colon in regard to this incident, but through his attorney, Colon refused to speak to him.

On Aug. 1, 2008, a preliminary hearing was held in York County District Court, but the charges were dismissed because the victim’s mother did not want her daughter to testify.

In July 2018, the victim and her mother contacted state police at Fern Ridge and said the victim now wished to follow through on criminal charges for this incident.

Colon faces charges of indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering welfare of children.

He is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 26 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
