Palmerton and Panther Valley both posted wins in baseball and softball action Thursday.

BASEBALL

Palmerton-Salisbury

Palmerton’s Wade Haydt and Drew Frank combined on a three-hit shutout as the Blue Bombers posted an 11-0 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Zach Silfies had three hits, two of them doubles, two RBIs and three runs, while Tanner Burnett added a single, home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Palmerton (5-3) also received two doubles and four RBIs from Eric Nothstein.

Panther Vy.-Shenandoah

Panther Valley bested Shenandoah Valley in Schuylkill League action, 9-3.

Mason Goida nad two hits, two RBIs and a run scored for the Panthers (5-3), while Josh Robin finished with two hits and a run. PV also received a double and three RBIs from Jake Taras.

Mark Kokinda earned the pitching win, allowing five hits and striking out five over six innings.

Northern Lehigh jumped out to a big lead, but Saucon Valley rallied to gain a 9-6 Colonial League victory.

For the Bulldogs, who dropped to 3-6, Caleb Wanamaker knocked in two runs, while Chase Misera, Alec Berger and Preston Bauer all finished with two hits.

Blue Mtn.-Northwestern

Northwestern scored two first-inning runs but were blanked the rest of the way in dropping a 7-2 non-league decision to Blue Mountain.

Derek Holmes had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers (7-2), while Brandon Mengel also finished with a pair of hits.

The Eagles, who are undefeated at 7-0, received two runs and two RBIs from Dylan Biever.

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

Tamaqua plated 12 runs in the fifth inning to help roll to a 19-1 Schuylkill League win over Jim Thorpe.

Jada Schellhammer had three hits, three RBIs and scored four runs to lead the Blue Raiders (6-4), while Jane Kupchinsky added two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Jen Frederickson contributed two hits, an RBI and four runs, with winning pitcher Bryn Clifford collecting two hits, two RBIs and a run.

For the Olympians (2-7), Trista Gehris had a hit and scored a run.

Claire Kokinda had three hits, two of them doubles, to pace the Panthers (5-3). Faith Drumbore drilled a two-run homer for the winners, while Brenna Beshock earned the pitching win and added three RBIs on offense.

The PV boys nabbed an 80-70 decision, while the girls lost by a 76-70 score.

Armani Dunkley had a pair of firsts (200, 400) in the girls meet for the Bears, while Xavier Garmony grabbed both hurdle events in the boys competition.
