McAdoo police report on arrests

A McAdoo man was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a probation check on Feb. 7.

An Adult Probation Officer was conducting a routine check on Ronald Hartranft, 39, who lives on West Sherman Street in McAdoo. They found a grinder, glass pipe and two marijuana cigarette butts. McAdoo Police were called to the home and filed the charges.

Carol Gowen, 48, of Hazleton, was charged with public drunkenness after she made repeated calls to the Schuylkill County 911 line on Feb. 4 requesting assistance. McAdoo Police responded to the 600 block of South Kennedy Drive and found Gowen on the sidewalk. As police were trying to conduct an interview, the woman stumbled away and again called 9-1-1.

Officers again tried to offer assistance and she began berating them, screaming obscenities. She was cited and released.

Galin Puryear III, 35, of Lakeland, Florida, was charged with possession of marijuana after an incident on Jan. 14. Police responded to a call about a suspicious person at the Fegley Mimi Mart, South Kennedy Drive, at 1:55 a.m. Puryear was found passed out inside a parked Freightliner tractor that had been parked in the lot for more than 30 minutes. When he opened the door to answer police, a small plastic pouch containing marijuana fell from the truck cab. A search of the truck also turned up a roach with burned marijuana residue.

He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
