One person is dead and another unaccounted for after a house was destroyed by fire early Monday morning in Lehigh Township.

Township police and fire departments were dispatched to an explosion and fire at the home at 12:47 a.m. The home is located at 1132 Blue Mountain Drive in Danielsville.

Authorities remained on scene this morning while a search continued for a second body.

The residents of the home were identified as Bruce Miller Jr., 36, and his 10-year-old son, Bruce Allan Miller, Lehigh Township Police Chief Scott Fogel said.

As of this morning, Fogel said the remains of one of the bodies was recovered, though the identity is unknown.

Equipment and personnel are on scene, searching the building remains. Fogel said they plan to move the debris left from the rubble to another location.

Fogel said a cadaver dog will be brought in from Northeast Search and Rescue to see if it can recover the missing body.

Officials still haven’t been able to determine the cause of the fire, Fogel said.

State police fire marshals and the Lehigh Township fire marshal are on scene assisting with determining the cause of the fire and explosion, he said.

Northampton County coroner Zach Lysek is also on the scene.

Equipment and personnel are searching the building remains, Fogel said.

The fire was brought under control at 3:20 a.m. Monday, Fogel said.

The home was a two-story farmhouse built in the early 1900s.

“I have to give a lot of credit to the fire department,” Fogel said. “Especially with the temperatures, cold and the wind.”

“The longest part is still ahead to get through all the debris.”
