Argument leads to stabbing in Walnutport

An argument between two women resulted in a stabbing Tuesday night in Walnutport.

Borough police Chief Pete Wayda said that at 11:58 p.m., police were dispatched to the McDonald’s restaurant at 473 Main St. for a stabbing victim.

Wayda said officers found a 19-year-old woman from Slatedale who had a stab wound to her lower back.

He said the woman was stabilized and transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for treatment of the wound by Northern Valley EMS.

Wayda noted that the stabbing did not occur at the McDonald’s, but rather in an alley behind the 300 block of Main Street.

He said the incident “arose out of a verbal altercation between the victim and suspect.”

Wayda said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect was interviewed. She was identified as Carley Contrevo, 20, whose last known address was Main Street, Slatington

As a result of that interview, charges have been filed and Contrevo was transported to the Northampton County Central Booking Center.

Wayda said Contrevo has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, and harassment.
