Mt. Pocono man breaks into home, threatens to kill homeowner

A Mount Pocono man who entered a home in Pocono Summit and held a gun to the homeowner’s chest, threatening to kill him, was arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police following the incident at 1:14 a.m. Monday.

Jose L. Velazquez, 43, of the 100 block of Fairview Avenue, is charged with burglary, carrying a weapon without a permit, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault and possession of an instrument of crime.

Police said the incident happened in the 100 block of Linden Loop in Pocono Summit, where officers responded for a reported fight. Police said they were advised that Velazquez entered the residence and threatened to kill the homeowner over a family dispute, reportedly holding a handgun to his chest. The man was disarmed and removed from the home by the residents.

He was apprehended by police on a nearby traffic stop.
