McAdoo marijuana busts

McAdoo police released information concerning two November traffic stops that led to charges of driving under the influence.

Kristopher Bachman, 29, of Orefield, was stopped on Nov. 2 at 10:34 p.m. for a nonfunctioning headlight. A strong odor of marijuana was detected when the officer spoke to Bachman. The officer asked about the marijuana and was handed a glass pipe with burned residue along with a small plastic pouch with marijuana in it. Bachman also told the officer he had smoked earlier in the day.

He was taken into custody and later taken for a blood test which was positive for THC. Bachman was charged with two counts of DUI of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the traffic violation.

Winefred De Pena Rodriguez, 23, of Hazleton, was stopped for a traffic violation at 6:12 p.m. on Nov. 7. Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana, which Rodriguez admitted smoking several hours earlier.

Field sobriety tests showed signs of impairment and he was taken for blood tests.

Test results were positive for THC. He was charged with two counts of DUI of a controlled substance and the traffic violation.
