N. Lehigh agrees to develop early retirement incentive plan

Northern Lehigh School District has agreed to develop an early retirement incentive plan that would include all eligible employees, on a voluntary basis, for the 2018-19 school year. The matter will be before the board at next month’s meeting.

Last year, the board rejected the early retirement incentive plan for its eligible professional employees for the 2017-18 school year.

Also on Monday, the board reappointed the law firm of Steckel & Stopp as solicitors for the school district for 2019. The hourly rate will be $132 per hour for general services, litigation-related services will be $150 per hour, and the hourly rate for staff will be $103 per hour. All rates represent a $3 per hour increase over last year’s rates. The board approved the retainer fee for 2019 at $2,050, which represents no increase over last year’s rate.

Personnel

• Accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Dollas middle school cook’s helper and high school detention monitor, effective Nov. 23.

• Appointed Eric DeAntonis and Stephen Reimert as secondary detention monitors for the senior high school for the 2018-19 school year. Work will be on an as-needed-basis, and compensation will be $20 per hour.

• Rescinded resignation of Andrea Sicora from her position as Peters Elementary emotional support paraprofessional that was originally approved Nov. 12.

• Approved professional employee status per the school code for teacher Amanda Bariana, who has satisfactorily completed three years of service to the district.
