Christmas party

The annual Sunday school Christmas party at St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown will follow the pageant rehearsal at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday. After rehearsal, the youth and teachers will have pizza and snacks before going caroling and handing out cookies to those they visit.

A congregational meeting will follow the 9 a.m. morning worship service at 10 a.m.

Christmas program

The children’s Christmas program at Effort UMC will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Polk tree lighting

Community Tree Lighting in Polk Township at the Veterans Memorial Park will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Community groups are asked to donate an ornament to display on the trees.

Serenity Anonymous

McMichaels UMC hosts a Serenity Narcotics Anonymous meeting at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. It is open to all. Anyone who has a problem with drinking, drugs or other addictions should consider attending. It is headed by Lenny Forte.

All Sports Club

The Pleasant Valley All Sports Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library.

PVIS career fair

A career fair will be held at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School Tuesday.

Korean Vets

The monthly meeting of the Korean War Veterans is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert.

OTOH meeting

Operation: Touch of Home will be meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert. For more information about the group, call Tammy at 570-236-9695 or email her at tlgower@ptd.net.

PVMS concert

The Pleasant Valley Middle School winter band concert will be presented Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Meeting canceled

The WEPOSC meeting for Dec. 12 has been canceled.

Angel Tree

Effort UMC is once again participating in the PVEN Angel Tree program.

Those who are participating are reminded to bring the unwrapped gifts to the church by no later than Dec. 14.

RSVP volunteers

Retired Senior Volunteer Program has the following opportunities available: Data entry volunteer, all training provided. Some knowledge of Microsoft Access Database helpful. General office work, open mail, light correspondence. Must pleasant and courteous: Stroudsburg-Hamilton Township area Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; GED Tutors and Instructional Aides I Tannersville: help students succeed. Local community college seeking volunteer tutors to assist students with reading literacy and basic math to prepare for GED. All training will be provided.

Sponsor-a-Maple

The Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is once again promoting its Sponsor-A-Maple Tree program.

For $25, a tree can be sponsored. The sponsorship includes several benefits: receipt of a Certificate of Sponsorship, a map of the Sugarbush showing the location of the tree, a pint of the center’s own pure maple syrup and free admission for up to four people to the Annual Public Maple Sugaring Day on March 2.
