A Northampton County man faces theft and drug charges after two incidents in Lehigh Township.

Justin Snyder, 27, of Danielsville, faces charges on one count each of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, theft from a motor vehicle, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Elias Batihk of the Lehigh Township Police Department, at 12:14 p.m. Nov. 22, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Cottonwood Road for a theft from a vehicle.

The victim told police he saw a man in his early 20s or late teens steal items from his red Subaru.

He identified the man as Snyder and said he stole his camo hunting backpack, pocket knife, camera, a hunting license that was in a holder, zip ties and clothing. The value of the stolen items was $261.

The victim said Snyder ran north into the woods on the left side of his home and threw a coffee mug into the woods. He found his camo hunting bag north, but the items were missing.

Batihk located the mug, the camo hunting bag and a Newport cigarette near the bag.

Patrolman Christopher D’Allesandro arrived and told Batihk that he saw a man matching the description pushing a black cart filled with items. They found Snyder, who said he was at his grandmother’s home and that the items belonged to him. Batihk saw two televisions, a brown metal safe, a laptop, printer and multiple other items in the wagon.

Police said he also had suspected marijuana.

Later that day, police were dispatched to another residence in the 1000 block of North Cottonwood Road.

The victim said when she came home she opened her garage door and saw a window was smashed. The victim said she saw the side garage door and her front door were open. The security bar to the patio door was removed. She also said a 22-inch TV, 32-inch TV with a DVD player attached to it, a laptop, printer and various items were stolen from her residence.

The victim estimated the value of the stolen property was about $1,945.

Police saw blood in the kitchen and bathroom. Snyder had a small cut on his finger.

Police saw a multicolored glass bowl located in the residence with burned green residue in it, and also located a black book bag inside the residence. The book bag contained a fall turkey hunting license with the victim’s name, as well as a camera and pocket knife, as reported by the victim.

Snyder was charged and is out on bail.

Snyder was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Hawke of Walnutport on Monday, but it will be rescheduled.
