Two facing charges after traffic stop

A Lansford man and Nesquehoning woman are facing drug charges following a traffic stop by Summit Hill police.

According to borough police, on Nov. 23 at 10:21 p.m., officers observed a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling east on East White Street and the driver failing to use a turn signal while making a left turn onto Pine Street. A traffic stop was made.

The driver was identified as Ginger Eldridge, 39, of the 200 block of West Columbus Avenue, Nesquehoning. A front seat passenger was identified as Joseph John Stalgaitis, 40, of the 400 block of West Patterson Street, Lansford.

At the stop it was learned that there was an active warrant for Stalgaitis’ arrest issued out of Schuylkill County. Stalgaitis was asked to exit the vehicle. While being taken into custody on the warrant police found a cloth drawstring bag in his right outer jacket pocket. Inside the bag was suspected drug paraphernalia. He admitted the matter found in the bag was illegal substances. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was later transported to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on the warrant.

Eldridge gave consent to the officers to search her vehicle. Found in the center console was a silver metal container containing three empty baggies with a white powdery residue and one baggie with a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Eldridge was taken into custody and taken to the police station. She provided a statement denying the contraband was hers. Police have charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and motor vehicle code violations of turning movements and required signals.
