Schuylkill County court

Schuylkill County judges have accepted guilty pleas from 13 people charged by local police. In addition to their punishments, all are required to pay court costs and fees.

Anthony W. Hill

, 30, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Coaldale police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on March 1, 2017.

President Judge William E. Baldwin deferred sentencing pending an evaluation.

Joseph Bodner

, 37, of Hazleton, was charged by McAdoo police with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to manufacture, deliver, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, intent to possess a controlled substance by a person not registered, and driving while his license was suspended or revoked on July 12, 2017.

Baldwin accepted his guilty plea to conspiracy to manufacture or deliver, and sentenced him to one to 23 months in jail.

His sentence begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 19.

Shawn Flaim Jr.

, 28, of Mahanoy City, was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia on April 16, 2016.

Claim pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, and Goodman sentenced him to time served to 12 months in jail, with credit for 82 days already served.

Adam J. Cruz

, 34, of Souderton, Montgomery County, was charged by Tamaqua police with resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia on March 29.

He pleaded guilty to the resisting charge, and Judge James P. Goodman sentenced him to 30 days to 23 months in jail.

Cruz was immediately paroled because Goodman gave him credit for the time he spent in an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility since Aug. 7.

Samantha J. Whah

, 29, of Tamaqua, was charged by West Penn Township police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while her license was suspended or revoked, and improper sunscreening on June 22, 2015.

Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin fined her $25 on the sunscreening charge. The remaining charges were dropped.

Jason Cieniawa

, 35, of Tamaqua, was charged by Rush Township police with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on June 16.

Baldwin accepted his guilty plea, and sentenced him to three to six months in jail on the receiving charge and to one year less two days to two years less one day on the motor vehicle charge, to be served concurrently with the first sentence for the receiving charge.

The time is to served concurrently with sentences in Luzerne and Carbon counties.

He was given credit for time served from June 17 to Nov. 7.

Rhett C. Baker

, 22, of Barnesville, was charged by Mahanoy City police with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license on Feb. 19.

He pleaded guilty to the two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and Baldwin sentenced him to time served to 23 months in jail.

Noah Garcia

, 21, of Delano, was charged by Mahanoy City police with possession of drug paraphernalia on Aug. 31, 2017.

Baldwin placed him on probation for 12 months.

Robert W. Barron Jr.

, 52, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough police with criminal mischief, public drunkenness, and two counts each of disorderly conduct, simple assault, and terroristic threats on May 11.

He pleaded guilty to the criminal mischief and disorderly conduct charges, and Baldwin sentenced him to time served to 23 months in jail with immediate parole.

The remaining charges were dropped.

James L. Maranki

, 55, of Northampton, was charged by Kline Township police with two counts of harassment on March 30, 2017.

Baldwin sentenced him to 12 months on probation, and ordered him to have no contact with the victim.

David J. Alsing

, 27, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough police with two counts each of simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment on Oct. 15, 2017.

Goodman accepted his plea to criminal mischief, and fined him $25 on each count.

Angela Edwards

, 33, of Falls, Wyoming County, was charged by Rush Township police with retail theft and defiant trespass on April 4.

Goodman sentenced her to one to two years in state prison. The trespass charge was dropped.

Jasmine C. Hunsicker

, 21, of Lehighton, was charged by state police at Jonestown with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while her license was suspended or revoked, speeding, failing to use turn signals, careless driving, and two counts of failing to use seat belts on Jan. 3, 2016.

She pleaded guilty to DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Judge Charles M, Miller sentenced her to 72 hours to six months in jail, to be served at the same time as a sentence she is serving in Carbon County. He also fined her $1,000.

The state Department of Transportation will suspend her license.

Judge John Domalakes dissolved a bench warrant against Brendon W. Brown

, 26, of Barnesville, and released him on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Domalakes ordered Brown to continue to live at 15 N. Fifth St., and to not move without notifying the Clerk of Courts and district attorney in writing. Brown is to have no contact with the victim, and must avoid alcohol and illegal substances and seek employment within 30 days.

Brown was charged by Mahanoy City police with simple assault on July 26.
