Jim Thorpe news for Nov. 5, 2018

Class outings

Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1965 will enjoy lunch together at noon on Thursday at Bravo Cucina Italiana, Lehigh Valley Mall. If you wish more information, contact George Kunkle.

Members of the Jim Thorpe Class of 1964 will travel to the Fogelsville Hotel on Nov. 14. Members are reminded that the day for this month has been changed due to the Thanksgiving holiday. They are also requested to bring their questionnaire packets they received at last month’s luncheon. They will meet at noon.

Church dinner

Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, are planning a Thanksgiving dinner of pork and sauerkraut, which will be served in the fellowship hall on Nov. 17, following the Saturday evening service. Please note the change of time for this service: It is now set for 5 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the church, and reservations should be made by this coming Sunday. You may also call the church office or any council member. There will be a $5 freewill offering for adults. Children will eat free.

The church is also making up Thanksgiving dinner baskets for families in the Jim Thorpe Area School District. If you wish to donate any items, there will be drop-off boxes in the back of the church until Nov. 15. The youth of the church will be packing up the boxes on Nov. 17.
