Pie crust order

The Willing Workers of Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, are accepting orders for pie crusts until Monday. Pickup dates are from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 and from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 11.

The crusts are single crusts in a 9-inch aluminum pie pan.

Ross Supervisors

The Ross Township Board of Supervisors is to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the township municipal building on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg.

Chestnuthill Supers

The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building in Brodheadsville.

Blood drive

The Miller-Keystone Blood Center will be at the Western Pocono Community Library at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday for folks to donate.

Habitat sale

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is holding a warehouse sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at The Mountain Center in Tobyhanna.

Items offered include garden supplies, light bulbs, plumbing and electrical supplies, tile, carpeting, shutters, paint and more.

Protect the Tap

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10, the Monroe and Northampton County Conservation districts will host the first Protect the Tap fundraiser at the Blue Ridge Winery in Saylorsburg in cooperation with local watershed organizations.

A cornhole competition will take place, along with a wine toss, fly fishing casting competition, pub trivia competition and more. Live entertainment will be provided. There is no entry fee for this event; however, all games and raffles are cash only.

All proceeds from games, raffles and select alcoholic beverages will fund environmental education efforts of the Monroe and Northampton County Conservation Districts.

Veterans honored

Eldred Township will be honoring its veterans and celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Eldred Township Veterans Memorial at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. The memorial is on the grounds of the Eldred Township Municipal Building in Kunkletown.

The celebration includes special speakers and music, possibly including local legislators as well as a retired military person.

A small reception will follow with refreshments and memorabilia on display inside the township building.

Also the committee will be observing the 20th anniversary of the monument and those who were instrumental in bringing to life the idea of such a memorial. Twenty-eight members began the monument; three remain.

A new committee has been formed to take the work into the next 20 years. The event will be held rain or shine.

Senior Prom

The Monroe County Seniors 20th Senior Prom has been announced for 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Pocono YMCA in Stroudsburg.

This year’s theme is “Casablanca.” Guests are invited to watch the movie and dress to impress.

There will be a DJ, dance instructor, door prizes and light refreshments.

PVEN Thanksgiving

A Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network Thanksgiving service will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at Salem UCC in Gilbert. An offering will be collected for the PVEN food pantry and food donations will also be accepted for the pantry.

Depression seminar

Cornerstone Community Church is hosting a free Depression and the Desire to Die seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13.

Pastor Fred Jacoby, Cornerstone’s Pastor of Counseling and director of Foundations Christian Counseling will help participants understand depression and suicide. Registration is requested, not required.

OTOH fall drive

Operation Touch of Home fall drive will take place Nov. 17 through Nov. 18 at Kinsley’s ShopRite in Brodheadsville.

Jack Mack, a monstrous 800 hp. mega crew cab is expected to be there as well as possibly a buddy so all donated items can be stored until time of packing and shipping those donations for military serving worldwide.

The community is asked to supply names and addresses so serving so they can be included in this Touch of Home effort.

Mission project

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is holding a special mission project, One Day for Missions. The church family and friends are asked to consider how much each one makes on a work day and then give that for missions.

The church will be taking a special missions offering in the morning services on Nov. 18.

NYC Christmas show

The West End Park and Open Space Commission is sponsoring a bus trip to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular at 2 p.m. Dec. 6. The bus departs at 8 a.m. from Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville and returns at 7 p.m.
