Lansford Fall Fest includes car cruise, music, more

Tents and bounce houses will replace cars along West Ridge Street Saturday as Lansford Alive celebrates its sixth annual fall fest.

This year’s fall fest is combining with the Grace Community Church Block Party to offer even more for families to do.

“It shows two organizations working together,” said Chris Ondrus, president of the Lansford Alive board of directors.

The event will feature live music, a car cruise, basket raffles, and activities for kids.

Live entertainment will kick off with John Frye Acoustics at 10 a.m., Angela Nardini at noon, Elvis (Joe Krushinsky) at 1:15 p.m., Reilly Bauer at 2:30 p.m., and the Grace Community Church band from 3-4 p.m.

“It’s the most entertainment we’ve ever had throughout the day,” Ondrus said.

The Jukebox Cruisers will hold a car cruise.

Grace Community Church will be holding a basket raffle as part of their block party.

For kids, there will be pumpkin painting, face painting, and a bounce house.

There will also be a variety of vendors, including ethnic foods from the Panther Valley.

The Miller-Keystone Blood Bank will have its bloodmobile on site.

Food will include fried Oreos, halushki, halupki, blennies, soup, pierogies, chili, hot dogs and hamburgers.

Lansford Police Department will have their cruisers on display.

The Lansford Historical Society will display items recovered from the Lokie tunnel at Patterson and Spring Garden Streets before it was filled in by PennDOT earlier this month.

“Between us and our events committee, we try to hold several big events during the year,” Ondrus said. “For the fall, it’s our biggest event.”

Ondrus said the event would not be possible without Donna Valent, Lansford Alive’s treasurer, as well as Mauch Chunk Trust, Mark Sverchek Agency-Nationwide Insurance, KL Herring & Son LLC and Key Bank.

“It’s growing every year, and it’s good to have it downtown. It helps to promote the businesses downtown and makes the downtown busier.”
