Kunkletown man in prison for assaulting girlfriend

A Kunkletown man is in prison after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during an argument.

Zachary Sliger, 27, faces charges on two charges of simple assault, and one count each of strangulation and harassment.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Donald Mac Rae of the Fern Ridge State Police barracks:

At 11:08 p.m. Sept. 14, Mac Rae and trooper Ronald Ziobro were dispatched to 117 Acorn Lane in Polk Township for a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, Mac Rae was met by the victim, who was sitting outside crying and said Sliger was inside the residence.

The victim told police she and Sliger had argued earlier in the night while both were drinking alcoholic beverages.

The victim said during the argument, Sliger started physically assaulting her, and said he grabbed her in the kitchen area and threw her to the ground. She said he began hitting her face on the floor.

The victim also said that Sliger placed his left hand on her neck and applied pressure, blocking her airway.

Mac Rae observed cuts on the victim’s right wrist, along with bruising and swelling on her facial and neck area.

Sliger was taken into custody and charged. Sliger remains incarcerated in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Sliger is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
