Local Sports Roundup: Results from Sept. 13

The Lehighton golf team posted a victory over Tamaqua on Thursday.

Panther Valley, Pleasant Valley and Jim Thorpe picked up wins in volleyball action, while the Jim Thorpe boys soccer and Northern Lehigh field hockey teams were also victorious.

Tamaqua-Lehighton

Tyler Disbrow led Tamaqua to a Schuylkill League win over Lehighton, 390-426.

Disbrow carded medalist honors with a 92 for the Raiders.

Jack Lorenz shot a 94 to lead the Indians.

Panther Valley-Pine Grove

Panther Valley picked up a critical 25-16, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 Schuylkill League Division 2 victory over Pine Grove.

Erika Dubosky had 10 digs, 10 kills, three aces and three blocks to help the Panthers win the battle of the top teams in the division. Rachelle Filer added eight kills, five digs, four blocks and three aces, while Jenna Dubosky tallied nine assists, seven kills, two aces and two digs. Emilee Kwaak chipped in with six digs, two kills and two aces, and Sarah Zabroski dished out 19 assists and Olivia Dacey recorded five digs and four kills.

Pottsville-Marian

Pottsville swept Marian 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 in a Schuylkill League Division 1 match.

Macie Mazalusky had 15 digs, 12 kills and one ace for the Fillies (1-3). Tatiana Zeleniak dished out 23 assists and recorded eight digs, while Kate Spillman and Nina Zeleniak added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Jim Thorpe-Lourdes

Jim Thorpe cruised to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-6 Schuylkill League Division 2 win over Lourdes.

Brandy Montemuro had 10 kills, seven digs and five assists for the Olympians. Kelsey Carroll added 10 assists, four digs, three kills and three aces, while Abbey McGinley (nine digs, four aces), Autumn Snyder (seven kills, three aces) and Mia Lowin also contributed in the win.

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua

Blue Mountain defeated Tamaqua 25-12, 25-14, 25-19 in a Schuylkill League match.

Emily Amershek had nine kills and two aces for the Raiders. Ella McLaughlin also added 32 digs.

Northwestern-Notre Dame GP

Notre Dame swept Northwestern 25-5, 25-14, 25-13 in a Colonial League contest.

Chiara Mowery had 15 digs and 12 aces for the Crusaders. Boots Bloys added seven blocks and an assist, while Grace Silfani recorded five aces.

Pleasant Valley-Pocono Mtn. East

Pleasant Valley conquered Pocono Mountain East 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference match.

Desi Powell had nine kills, seven digs and two aces, while Cameron Caffrey led the Bears (8-0-1) in assists with 15.

Ari Weaver had a team-high 10 kills for Pleasant Valley.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Saucon Valley breezed past Palmerton 3-0 in a Colonial League match. No other information from this game was received by the Times News.

Southern Lehigh shut out Northwestern 1-0 in a Colonial League match.

Michhoff posted nine points for the Raiders, while Werner tallied eight.

Tri-Valley won the B game, 34-23. Calohan’s nine points paced the attack.

Minchhoff’s nine points were tops for Tamaqua.
