How to read like a writer

Do you wonder how reading like a writer is different from reading like a reader?

If so, attend the Black Diamond Writers’ Network, a writer’s group, from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St., Tamaqua. Sara Karnish will share strategies for reading and will be analyzing a novel from a writer’s perspective. This meeting is free and open to the public.

Karnish will continue with an afternoon workshop, “Grammar Rules!” A great plot and characters make great fiction, but without correct grammar, the best book will fall flat. She will be covering proper mechanics, usage, grammar and spelling. The workshop will have a fee of $10 for members of BDWN or $15 for nonmembers.

Karnish has been a freelance writer and writing instructor for the past 15 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lebanon Valley College and completed graduate coursework in English at Kutztown University.
